Frank Garcia asks:

>Can anyone suggest clarinet showpieces that have a >reasonably interesting
piano part; preferably one that
>demonstrates the pianist's abilities as much as the >clarinetist's?

The clarinetist Michael Webster, in his PHD thesis at Eastman, arranged piano
four-hands music for clarinet and piano. In his words, this was accomplished
by, "giving three hands to the piano and one to the clarinet".

The thesis is, "Transcriptions for Clarinet and Piano from Original Music for
Piano, Four Hands by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Schumann",
by Michael Webster, Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester,
May, 1975.

The works transcribed are:

1. Mozart, "Sonata in C", K.V. 521

2. Beethoven, "Sonata in D", Op. 6

3. Schubert, "Grande Sonate in Bb", Op. 30, D.V. 617

4. Schubert, "Fantasie", Op. 103, D.V. 940

5. Mendelssohn, "Allegro Brillant", Op. 92

6. Schumann, Two sets of pieces totaling 11 items

I've actually heard the Mozart and Mendelssohn performed and the Mendelssohn
would certainly satisfy your criteria as a showpiece and to demonstrate the
pianist's ability.
