Hello,
Here in the Netherlands almost all the clarinettist in orchestras play
Wurlitzer (thats a german manufacturer) but not with the german applicatura
(keywork), e.g. Oehler, but with a French keywork, called Reform Boehm
(there are a few alterations compared to your Buffet Boehm system). As
mentioned before: Georg pieterson, (solo of the Concertgebouw orchestra),
but also the guys from netherlnads Wind Ensemble and all the other
orchestras.
There is a difference between the german Reform Boehm clarinets (by
Wurlitzer, but also by Hammerschmidt or Yamaha) and the Buffet/selmer/ etc.
calrinets. They all go with different mouthpieces and also different reeds.

I, myself has begun on Buffet, later I bought the Wurlitzer Reform Boehm
(very expensive!) and now, for hal a year I'm trying and plying the Buffet
Elites..., but I still have the beatiful Wurlitzers besides me...
As for the Russian school: they all play french clarinets, I mean: not the
re.Boehm Wurlitzers, because the german clarinets are especially made for
the Dutchmen...

(Are there any Reform Boehm players outside the Netherands, who bought
their instruments directly from Wurlitzer?)

yours!

(I am now playing the Eb clarinetpart of Le Sacre by Strawinsky with
orchestra (lots of fun, by the way!!!). Tomorrow we'll have the first
performance after only 3 practice sessions. The part I play with
bass-clarinet and alto flute I have only practiced once in the orchestra,
and also the beginning. Strange parts: Eb en D. I have D clarinet, but the
beginning is only more difficult on D. Does someone has some "theories"
about this?)

| Regarding the Netherlands and the German system clarinet: I think that
| there is quite a group of Improved Boehm system players there--Radio
| Netherlands (Hilversum) the players in the Netherlands Wind Ensemble,
etc.
| Many of these players (George Pieterson, eg) play on Wurlitzer Boehm
| equipment. Anyone out there from the Netherlands? Also Swiss players
| from the Zurich region (Tonhalle Orchestra) are using German system
instru-
| ments. Lux Brahn does--but most of the students she teaches have Boehm.
| Just my two cents' worth.
