Mark,

The Walthew Trio, which may be out of print, was published by
Boosey and Hawkes.

Ponchielli's "Paolo and Virginia" is unpublished. After a 2-1/2 year
search, I obtained a microfilm copy of the parts (as I'm sure other
performers who have recorded it did also) from the Biblioteca
Conservatorio del Giusseppi Verdi of Milan, Italy.

You inquired about the Ted Stern accompaniment to "Il
Convegno;" and that version is with string orchestra. Regarding
Ponchielli's "Quartetto" and "Il Convegno" as performed on the new
Danacord CD, the accompaniments for both are with full symphony orchestra.
The CD liner notes indicate the existence of manuscript versions of the
orchestral accompaniments (presumably by the composer) which cause the works,
formerly regarded as salon-style selections when played with piano, to
acquire completely new "symphonic and concert dimensions."

Best regards,

Connie
