Gene,

Two excellent clarinet, violin, and piano trios not yet listed
in Mark Charette's archives are as follows:

1. "Trio in C Minor" (1897) by Richard Walthew. I received this
music from John Fuest of the Liverpool Philharmonic, who advised me
that Walthew was a highly regarded English composer at the turn of the
century;

2. A heavy favorite of mine is "Paolo and Virginia" by Ponchielli.
There are two noteworthy recordings of the composition, one by the
Syrinx Ensemble with Antony Morf, clarinet, Thomas Furi, violin, and
Gerard Wyss, piano, and another new one, which I haven't even opened
yet, with Fred Ormand, clarinet, Andrew Jennings, violin, and Martin
Katz, piano.

I learned about the new recording from Don Yungkurth and, in
addition to my wanting to own a recording of the new Trio performance,
I was curious to hear two other recordings of Ponchielli compositions
on the same CD, namely: the "Quartetto" and "Il Convegno," both of
which are done with *orchestral* accompaniments.

P.S. When I referred to a turn-of-the-century composer, it occurred to me
that the time is approaching when we'll need to specify the turn of which
century.
