How bout the Wanhall trio? I had a high School student who performed the
Strav. trio on Saturday, (radio broadcast), and the next day played the
Bartok Contrasts for Claude Frank (Marlborough director) in a master class.
(I'm not the one who scheduled THAT).
(The Wanhal is a nice break form the insanity)

Subject: Clarinet Trios

I am currently preparing for an ensemble recital with a violinist and a
pianist. Unfortunately, original pieces for this admittedly unusual
combination of two soprano instruments are quite rare, and I am looking for
other works to possibly perform.
Currently we are thumbing through the Stravinsky suite from "l'histoire
du Soldat," Bartok's Contrasts, Milhaud's suite, and the Khachaturian Trio.
These are all great works, to be sure, but for anyone whose familiar with
these pieces, rehearsing ALL of these pieces at once is a KILLER!!
I'm particularly hoping that someone can come up with a classical trio,
even if it may be obscure, so as to provide a variety to both audiences and
ourselves. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Gene
