Greetings Peter -

I can't say whether the quality of the 1010's is better, but having played
them for several years I can say they're definitely professional quality
instruments. Their distinctive feature (call it advantage or disadvantage)
is their huge bore - I think the 926 has a slightly larger bore than most
French clarinets but the 1010 is much bigger. This means you can't play
them in tune without a reamed-out mouthpiece (or one made with the bigger
bore in the first place). Incidentally I still have my 1010's and a few
mouthpieces which I could be persuaded to sell if anyone's interested. I
now play Rossi clarinets, with the same size bore as the 1010's and I have
the tools for adapting the mouthpieces (pretty scary-looking but I've
gotten used to them and the results are excellent).
