Subj: Bass clarinet stands

There is an important additional factor related to the Blayman
bass clarinet stand that makes it particularly advantageous. It
can be ordered with two wings, each of which holds two pegs. So
in the space of about 18 square inches I used to use (for the Mahler
symphonies) a bass clarinet, an A, B-flat, C, and E-flat. When
I had to play the A bass as well I did bring another Blayman stand.

But you must order the stand with the wings at the time of ordering
it. You don't have to order the wings but simply let Blayman know
that you will want them in the future. That way the proper holes
are drilled for later attachment. Without those holes, one cannot
use the wings.

I always used the Blayman stand when I played Rosenkavallier. It
is a bass clarinet/basset horn double and both instruments could fit
in the retaining slot together, though two bass clarinets do not fit.
