I modified one of these double tenor sax/alto sax combinations for
when I play both the Bass clarinet and Alto clarinet. While the top
of the bell sits nicely just like the saxophones the stand was
designed for, I added spring clips to hold the lower part of the
bell. (The top for the alto clarinet may need some extra padding).
Positioned these clips just above where the small fork hold the lower
part of the saxophone bell. You also get the benefit of the peg for
the Bb clarinet (or flute or whatever) too!

The snag was that the instruments were not absolutely stable. If I
put them there, they were okay, but I would not let anyone else near
for a knock could topple them - especially the alto. They do not
have the bottom end weight like the saxophone. The other snag is
that you have to shift the position of the floor peg before housing
the instrument.

However, having just invested in a more expensive Bass (Buffet
prestige), I thought I dare not use the same stand (not that it
seemed to damage the instuments. I was going to buy it, but the shop
threw in the K&M Bass/Bassoon stand for free. I can recommend it,
for it is solid enough to be stable, and fairly easy to carry about.
(and if you are really lazy, you can still play a lot of notes while
the instrument is in the stand. And of course, the lower peg does
not have to be moved. I can recommend it, even though it is not cheap.
