I've been offered a fairly new Buffet R13 and would like to hear the
collected views of the Klarinet list as to an appropriate price for it.

Details:
According to B&H it was manufactured in 1990. The owner says it was bought
new in Iowa about 4 years ago. I haven't asked in detail, but the story
appears to be that it was bought for high school band and used little, now
the owner is in early college years and wants to sell it.

The instrument appears to be in very fine condition, with no evidence of
finger wear on the tone holes. The top joint holds a vacuum well, the lower
joint less so. Pads appear, to my eyes, to be conventional fishskin over
felt, especially on the lower joint. I'm used to the idea that pad surfaces
will show some discoloration at the indentation where they contact the wood,
but the upper joint pads show a great deal of this brown discoloration, in
some cases covering the entire surface of the pad.

So far as my skill level can tell, the instrument plays very well. I am
going to ask some people who normally play Buffet and who are much more
skilled to play it and offer their opinion as to it's condition.

I would appreciate any guidance and/or opinions. TIA.
