From: James McGlinchey <James.McGlinchey@-----.edu> Subj: FW: Replacement rings for an old Buffet Date: Tue, 16 Sep 1997 07:48:06 -0400
A friend of mine has an o-o-o-o-o-ld Buffet. He bought it in 1934, =
thinks it's an R13 or an ancestor. It has serial number 1305 (yep!).
He's been playing it ever since, and now the metal rings are worn =
paper-thin, to the point that all adjustment play is gone in the ring =
mechanism. He can't cover the holes and depress the rings far enough to =
close the
Related pads. The instrument body is still in very good condition, and =
has wonderful tone.
What are his options here?=20
Are replacement ring assemblies available from Buffet? For an instrument =
this old?
Can the existing rings be built up with metal?
Can a contemporary ring set be modified to fit?
Thanks in advance for any help.
