Yesterday afternoon in Monterey, CA at the Monterey Arts Museum, a
memorial service for Rosario Mazzeo took place between 5:30 pm and
8:00 pm. There were no speeches except for some words of welcome
from Rosario's son, and the afternoon was devoted to conversation
and music. After a favorite movement of a Brahms piano sonata
was played, a very large clarinet ensemble consisting of Rosario's
pupils played some music in his memory.

Students flew in from Switzerland, Belgium, all over the US, etc.
to be able to play in the group and honor Rosario. David Breeden,
principle in SF was in it, Clarke Fobes, lots of people There
were three basset horns and four or five bass clarinets and five
contrabass clarinets. It was a big (and very distinguished) group.

It was quite an event. Thought you should know about it.
