Hello,
I write my e-mail with Microsofts Internet Mail. Maybe you folks are
referring to me. I do not at all know, if my posts are coming to you with a
attachement. If so, let ME know, and I will try to fix it. I haven't got
any attachements from anybody in this listserv... If I am not "the
troublemaker", is it a good reccomendation to give the ones who
unintentionally e-mail with attachements a notice... I think they do it not
on purpose, and: they are probably not aware of it. So, maybe I am one of
the troublemakers, but I am also not aware of it.
But: why is it, that I do not have those attachements here... Is it maybe
so, that my software is (in this case) "better"?

OK,

Jeroen T. Salm

| Yo, 'glinch --
|
| I believe what these folks are referring to is that fact that your
| messages (and those of one or two others as well) arrive with lots
| and lots and lots of apparently nonsensical attachments, likely
| because your mail application is speaking something that at least
| some (perhaps most) other mail readers do not understand, or care to.
| The problem here is, to be charitable, that they don't add much to
| the Klarinet list. In fact to us they seem to clutter up the
| digests. Some of us would consider it a kindness if those of you
| could, when you post messages to the Klarinet list, try to see
| whether there's some sort of "plain email" option in your
| mail-reader.
|
| I hope I am (we are) not being intrusive or demanding in asking this
| -- it's questionable whether it's a good idea to post even encoded
| GIFs (some of us remember that perpetually bouncing one from a year
| or so ago) but unless I'm missing something, the attachment encoding
| doesn't add anything to the content of messages. I hasten to add
| that if you were reading your posts as we do I'm sure you would
| understand.
