Selmer also spent four years with Cinc Symphony Orchestra before returning
to take care of business (clarinets, mouthpieces and reeds) with his
brother Alexandre in Paris. This was shortly before WWI--some years later
Selmer (Paris) did get into metal clarinets--silver-five pieces-articulated G#-
metal mouthpiece with rubber insert--etc. I have one from 1930--a real
attempt at a pro clarinet--plays well--I think the "listen-with-the-eyes"
set in and they dropped the project for fear of the lack of "prestige"/
Haynes of Boston also made double walled sterling silver A and Bb instruments.
