Subj: Old foggie plays the clarinet

Old foggie experiences playing the clarinet for the first time.
First day: I found a nice clarinettist in my town. She started playing it
when she was in an elementary school. After playing in bands in junior
high and high schools, she majored in the clarinet in an University in
Tokyo. I watched and listened to her playing duet with a girl who also had
an experience in school bands. They sounded nice. I decided to ask her to
teach me and purchase one as she recommends. It was a Yamaha wooden
clarinet.

Second day: I purchased Yamaha YCL-853IIV from a local dealer as she tried
it. It was a more expensive one out of two recommendations she made. What
shall I name it? In front of the dealer I tried... but no sound, for a few
trials... but, no sound. After making several kinds of high odd sounds, it
sounded nicely and low. The vibrations feels nice to my lips. I did not
feel such a pleasant vibrations when I played the trumpet, trombone, violin
and piano. I was happy making some sounds by putting my fingers at
different positions. The dealer said it will take a few months to make
nice sounds.

Third day: The first lesson will be in the next week. Until then, I will
try to make a progress by myself.

Yasu
