Dear list,

Thanks to everyone who answered my idle question about naming
instruments. The postings gave me a good laugh and have convinced me that
even if the practice isn't common, it's a good one to keep up :-);-)!!! I
have actually remembered the name of my other, plastic clarinet: Claire.
I gave it that name a long time ago and haven't used it much recently, so
I couldn't remember before. I have one more naming story: a friend of
mine at school bought a new Buffet R-13 a few years ago, and was/is very
protectice of it. Not being inclined to, he didn't name the instrument,
but the rest of the section was unable to resist and began calling it
"Baby". :-)
