Subj: Jay Morton's Passing
Date: Thu, 11 Sep 1997 03:49:27 -0400

I was very sad to hear of the passing of my last teacher, Jay Morton. He
was a great man. I learned as much about life and music as I did about the
clarinet from him. It was only a few months ago that he was out on the
West coast for a holiday. I'm glad that I had the chance to see him then
and I'm happy to have known him. His legacy will live on with the players
he taught and the people who knew him.
