Subj: A brief clarification vis a vis clarinet materials

For anyone who joined this thread mid-stream, I just wanted to clarify that
(contrary to some posted assertions) none of the acoustics-oriented
information I have presented to this list at any time is based on a single
"subjective" experiment done in 1971.

All of it is based on physics and acoustics basics which have been
developed and researched over the past few hundred years. (A lot of the
acoustics stuff within the last 50 years.)

Anyone who is interested in learning more about it should (as has been
previously noted on the list) read Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics by
Arthur Benade (Dover Publishing). This book summarizes much of Benade's
own work as well as the work of hundreds of other individuals who have
contributed to the development of this important field. The book also has
citations of all preceding work and gives very thorough discussions of both
the mathematical theory as well as the experimental work that has been done.
