Possibly this comes from the fact that you are not accustomed to the
B-45. It probably has a significantly different lay and tip opening.
When I first got mine, I found that I needed to use better breath
support. Once I did that I got a marvelously better tone than I had
from my old mouthpiece. You may also need to use a different reed
strength than your plastic one takes due to this different lay and tip
opening.
