I am forever browsing the pawn shops and have purchased the following
here in the St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida area.

A Boosey Hawkes B flat for $25.00
A M. Lacroix A for $60.00
A Yamaha E flat for $40.00
a Layfayette C for $ $60.00

AND I just missed a R13 Buffet (Very Old) that the owner sold for $40.00
and paid $5.00 for!!!! The buyer did not have the money on him and
returned to purchase it. If he did not return that day, it would have
been mine.

See a lot of the student model and lower grade clarinets from $25.00 to
$75.00.

On another matter-- I tried 22 R13 Buffets to select my A and B flat
clarinets.
Machining wood and holding tolerances is very hard. Almost impossible on
production line processes.

If you want the "baddest", clarinet you have to own a hand made clarinet
such as the Wurlitizer (he is now dead) and pay around five grand for it.
These clarinets were owned by the likes of Sabine Meyers and Karl
Liester.
