Yes Laura, I have noticed these problems when playing different mouthpieces,
there are many factors. Usually the biggest problem is the opening. You
need to compare them and adjust to the other mouthpiece. Plastic mouthpieces
usually get very good projection and you can do lots with them, but hard
rubber and wood take lots of getting used to. Try using softer reeds until
you are comfortable, then work up to stronger reeds.
