Klarinet Archive - Posting 000360.txt from 1997/09

My first clarinet in fourth grade band was metal and not a very
good clarinet. I've owned in the past the contrabass LeBlanc, also metal
and a fine instrument.
Obtaining a new plastic clarinet in the fifth grade was a big
improvement over the school band metal clarinet. My current mouthpiece
is plastic (a Runyon) and I won't trade or sell it for anything.
I recall hearing about some limited production clarinets that Haynes
manufactured about fifty or more years ago that were double walled. The object
of the double wall was temperature related. I think the material was silver.
Anyone have more info on these clarinets or better, playing experience?
