I have followed with interest the thread on having new R-13's serviced
upon purchase. Now some one compared it to buying a car and the dealer
prep. There is a major difference here, the sticker on the car INCLUDES
the dealer prep and it is spelled out. When I pick up the vehicle, this
prep has been done. If there are subsequent problems, they are covered
under the warranty.

Now I have no quarrel with the idea of some type of prep being needed.
BUT they should tell us up front! I object to buying anything (not just
clarinets) and immediately having to take it in for service and pay on
top of my initial purchase price.

One question does come to mind though. This thread has focused on the
R-13. Is such service typically needed on the comparable models by
Leblanc, Selmar, Yamaha, Rossi, etc.? Or does Buffet have exceptionally
poor quality control?
