Clarinet is easy?

After years of teaching beginning band experience has shown me that
clarinet is one of the more difficult instruments to start kids on. You
have the embouchure that is difficult to set. Without the proper
embouchure and airstream it is impossible to get a characteristic sound.
Don't forget the hand position problems that often contribute to a very
difficult time learning the upper register. Even with emphasis on the
above items from the start they are always and obstacle to overcome.

For ease of teaching I would vote for saxophone every time. Saxophone is
difficult to learn well, however.
