Personally, I don't know of any instruments that are easy to play well.
However, it has been my observation that there seem to be some wind
instruments that students find easier to produce what is sometimes called a
"characteristic tone." In that group I would put baritone saxophone,
baritone horn, and (with a bit of hesitation) bassoon.
