Once a student becomes eyebound, it is difficult to tell if he is reading
the markings or using his own ideas. A lot of the common sense markings
you refer to are not necessarily the musical ideas I like....or other
people like....not to say that they are not ok....but there are many
different ways to phrase a phrase (not being punny on purpose there!), and
the Hite markings, for me, tend to get in the way.

for the reasons mentioned in my last posting and this one. There are
several editions of the Mozart Concerto, not the least is one that is
combined with several other solos...it has poor editorial markings and
many note errors. I do not advocate purchasing the Solos Volume because
it saves money...I advocate purchasing solo literature individually from
the most reputable publisher so that students can get the most correct and
reliable edition.

Actually, this is the best reason to buy the Hite edition! However, if
one is comparing, then it would necessitate purchasing the individual
volumes AS WELL as the Hite edition....!
