This is true, but, keep in mind that many teachers prefer to have the
original Rose etudes without all of the extra dynamic and term suggestions
that are found in David Hite's editions. I use the Rose etudes only after
students have completed Book I of David Hite's Melodius and Progressive
Studies...sometimes moving them to Book II first. The Rose are useful
beyond technique...in that they ask the student to listen carefully to the
melodic line and make decisions regarding arrival points/goals. If the
markings are already there, the students tend to remain (in Jim Froseth's
language) "eyebound" rather than "earbound". The latter is preferrable.

Not to say there isn't a good place for the Hite editions......just
depends on what the teacher has in mind.
