Dear List,

Somehow I did not find out until very recently that the International
Music excerpt books for clarinet (Vols. 1-4 edited by Robert McGinnis,
vols. 5-8 edited by Stanley Drucker) are "temporarily" out of print. I am
told that because of the GATT treaty, all the copyrights for Russian
composers have to be renegotiated and the books will have to be redone.

Yes, it is better to work from complete parts and yes, there are plenty of
mistakes. But I have found them useful in getting a lot of important
excerpts into students' hands (especially vols. 1 and 2).

Does anyone know of any copies stored away? Are other excerpt books going
to be similarly affected? What options are left for us?
