My early musical education

I was born in Edmonton, Alberta (Western Canada).

I remember that in our home, there was always music.
My older brother played violin. My older sister and younger brother
played piano.

Every time I asked my Father when I would get a violin, he would say,
"When the traveler comes around."

I didn't know at the time that "the traveler" meant a travelling
salesman that had a catalogue and one would order this or that for the
store. My father had a clothing store.
I guess that is how my older brother got his violin.

Years later, when I was a professional, I asked my Mother, "Ma, why
didn't I get lessons in Edmonton?"

She said" Because when you were little, you used to go the piano with a
hammer and bang on the keys, so we assumed that you're not musical".

So- Parents, if you have a piano in the house, hide the hammers!

The rest of the story another time.

By the way, my siblings never became musicians.
