I freely admit my remark about the snare drummer placement in the Nielsen
Concerto was to give rise to a smile, not a frown. I have performed it with
piano and snare drum (he was a sub with the Minnesota Symphony) and even
with an incredible percussionist, we ended up placing him behind the piano
so we could see each other, but so some of the sound was reflected by the
piano body and lid back towards the back a curtained stage. Our problem
was a bright hall with too much echo. The snare part is available through
Kalmus Music, score #A5354, $3.00 plus shipping.
