Some more advice on how to find the article:

Well, first you would need access to a decent music library.
Then you can ask
the library if they carry the journal/periodical "The Instrumentalist."
Libraries usually
have a list of journals, but I find it is easier to ask when you are
visiting an unfamiliar
library. The librarian should provide a call number and then it's a
matter of hoping the
library still has the issue. By the way, back issues of journals are
usually bound together
by year, so you would need to look for the Jan. issue.
Another option is inter-library loan. Many libraries will
actually send you a photocopy
of the article you need. This was a tremendous help when I was working
on my master's
thesis. So even if the univeristy closest to you doesn't have extensive
music holdings,
they should still be able to provide you with the article through
inter-library loan. Many university
libraries are very good about letting locals (non-students) use their
facilities.
