Since I don't know what your criteria are for a jazz mouthpiece, this is a
stab in the dark but... I have been really enjoying the Vandoren M13 Lyre and
heard that the V13 was a more open version of the same (with long facing) so
I tried one. It was way to long and open for me. But the amount of
flexibility and openess suggested jazz compatibility to me. Little bit of a
saxaphone effect in fact. (I traded it in for an M13 plain which is even more
closely faced than the M13 Lyre if I am not mistaken).

By the way I also purchased this simple Vandoren ligature (model 901 nickel
for $15) that, like David Hite's design, contacts the reed only at the top
and the bottom of the table (a line contact like the Bonade but at 90 degrees
to the direction the bonade rails run). And it is a very interesting
ligature. The only one I have liked since my old Rovner light. I am still
looking forward to trying Hite's ligature and mouthpiece but have not
received them yet.

I am looking for a very good jazz mouthpiece for clarinet. I am currently
using a Rico Royal M9 Metallite mouthpiece, great for jazz, but it is way
too
open. I have to use LaVoz medium reeds or 2-1/2 to get a good sound on it.
Are there any jazz players out there? If so, what do you use? I have a
Vandoren B45 as a back up, but I find it too closed for me. I also have a
Selmer HS**. Any recommendations? I am looking for preferably crystal, but
anything will do.

BTW, I also buy and sell used mouthpieces. If you have clarinet mouthpieces
for sale, jazz or clasical, let me know.
