I also used to spell it with the "h," but my dictionaries now list only
the other spelling. According to Webster's Collegiate, the word comes
from the name of the fictional king of Algiers, Rodomonte. I suppose that
could be spelled with an "h," too, but I don't know whether the author,
Orlando, was trying to write an Italian name or what he thought could be
an Algerian one. If Italian, I think it would not have the "h."

Well, that's more than enough said about that!
