Primarily out of curiosity, has anyone on this list ever rented a pair of
basset horns for performance use?

I practically begged every time I had the opportunity to play the Mozart
Gran Partita or the Mozart Requiem mass (OK, a total of 3 times in 6
years!) for the University to rent a pair, but money was always an issue,
and no one seemed to know where to get them anyway. And of course, there
was the apathy -- no one cared if the parts were played on basset horn or
clarinet except ME!

So, I'm asking about rental either by an individual or by an institution.
What were the terms and from whom did you get them?

Dan Leeson, are you out there still? Are you still coming to Tucson? If
I was really, REALLY nice to you and fed you a few good dinners, would you
bring your bassets and play duets with me?

Looking for a playmate (only in the cleanest of meanings, of course - I'm
a nice girl!),
