I'm not acquainted with Mr. Puwalski, but unless your check included
a legally binding statement in the signature area on the back, there
doesn't appear to be much legal action you can take. To track him
down, you might log onto the web and use the public domain search
to find his most current address and telephone number. I'm surprised
that you blindly sent somebody a check in the mail without at least
talking to them on the phone first. It's like the huckster on TV
who entices, "Just send a check for $10 to me at this address, and
I'll tell you how to become rich beyond your wildest dreams!" So
people send the check, and 3 days later they get a little card
back in the mail. All it says, in small black letters on the back:

"See?"
