I've found Luyben ligatures do not grip well on my crystal mouthpiece, but
Bonades are fine on the same mouthpiece. Other than that one example, I
have never had a problem with any of my clarinets or saxes. But one thing
you can try is putting a vinyl mouthpiece patch on the top side of the
mouthpiece underneath the ligature. It will get a good grip on that.
