Certainly, you have no idea of what you are talking about. . .brass
instruments can make music. Heck, if they are good enough, they can make
the most beautiful music ever heard!! Have you ever watched a drum corp
show???? They are so awesome! It takes so much stamina to practice
the way they do just to be that good by finals week. If you could just
hear them up close. For instance, last year Phantom Regiment played
music by Dmitri Shostakovich entitled Introduction to Ballet Suite number 4
and Symphony no. 5. They were great!! Can you honestly tell me that
you would march around outside with a bass for twelve hours straight, do
horn pops, and marching slides, and still project that kind of sound?
I think not. It is almost impossible for a bass or flute or clarinet to
project like that and do that kind of work. Also, a lot of woodwind
players are smart enough to know that marching their instruments doesn't
make them money like it does brass. . . .maybe in the concert world but
not the marching field!!
