Matt,
My two favorite ligatures are the Harrison(metal) and the Pyne
string ligature. The best thing that you can do is to visit your local
music store and try every ligature that you can. Try them with your
best reed and best mouthpiece. Listen for evenness of tone in all
registers, pitch, and response. If a ligature is difficult to play on,
don't buy it not matter how it sounds. You have to be the one to decide
what works for you.
