Sounds like you are well prepared for pit work. Actually, the goal of
playing big band music is what got me to take up sax in the first place.
Now I play lead alto in a group, and also lead clarinet when playing Glenn
Miller, Artie Shaw, etc., arrangements. But lately I play bass clarinet in
the local community band.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
