The technician at our store charges about $90, and I know his rates are
extremely reasonable. A generic Micro pad set is around $17-20, I think.
But be prepared for some of the pads not to fit. Different brands use
different sizes. It is not impossible for someone with strong mechanical
aptitude to do. I have done it before. But I take my Selmer Paris 10 in
for professional work. If you do it yourself, take your time. It would be
best to have an experienced person guide you, but trial and error is a
wonderful teacher. Just very slow and painful. You will learn a lot about
the instument and how it works. Don't forget that some key corks will
likely need replacing, too.
