I multiple tongue like Keith Stein did, and can tongue 16ths. at 300+, for
a really long time without getting tired. I just (not only can I, but I
just tried it to confirm it) tongued an octave chromatic scale up AND down
(25 notes) in one second. The entire range of the Clarinet Low E to High G
and down in 3 sec(2.98 sec). I kid you not.
Keith Stein (former Princ. Chicago Sym.) swung his tongue from side to side.
Hey, I'd do it on the David Letterman show (under stupid Human tricks) if
it paid well...
On a more mature note, fast, faster, fastest, doesn't mean crap. How
musically you play, how well you connect the notes, how you sound, and how
well you play in tune is what wins auditions, not these silly pyrotechnics.

Dear Group:

Bob is, in fact, in Belgium at this very moment, and he says that
...yes, he can tongue at the rate of 288 for 16ths.
