I think vibrato is definitely something one should consider when putting
together a performance, and does hold a serious place in clarinet
performances of all types. So long as it is tasteful, and fits in with
the piece it is fine.

The question is: what is tasteful, and how must it fit? That is
something that is really open to interpretation, and that we really
can't be attacked for. So long as you can musically justify it, and
(the bottom line) it sounds good, go right ahead!

I have noticed that the words "always" and "never" have come up a lot in
this and past issues. What brings this to mind is someone's comment
about their teacher saying you could "never use vibrato". I think one
should really be careful before taking such a strong position on any
subject, especially musically. While it may not be common practice to
do some things, I would suggest keeping an open mind. Use vibrato as
the situation allows. It may not be neccessary, but then again, it may
really enhance your performance.
