(By the way, Hi Peter!) Sometimes when I travel weight and space are
both at a premium so I don't want to bring my Buffett case. Out of
heavy-duty cardboard mailing tubes I have cut to size tubes for my
clarinets. In one tube I put the lower joint and bell (partially
attached). The ring of the bell protrudes so that I can use a smaller
diameter tube. In a second tube I put the upper joint and barrel. I
wrap bubble wrap around each joint before placing them in the tubes.

These are the ultimate in lightness but not very convenient and I
wouldn't want to sit on them!
