You are exactly right - it WAS meant to be funny! I'm friends with some
repairmen and I respect their work. I like to add a little humor in my
writing at times but not everyone can pick up on that. When I say "beyond
repair", I mean just that - unfixable. The bell was hit by a large metal
object and crushed. I should have specified that but I figured that somebody
would give me a straight answer and not dig up old skeletons!
