I do try to take care of my ears, but, as a clarinet player, it is
uncomfortable and I being human have a hard time getting used to it. On a
lighter side, there was a report sometime in Late '95 (I believe), that said
clarinet players due to the back pressure or something like that had a
natural protection or something like that more so than brass players. I'll
see if I can find that article...... Also another article said that trumpet
players have a bigger chance of having an aneurysm (bad spelling), or going
blind (I wish my memory was alot better). Now on the subject of hearing,
just think of all those boom boxes and those loud cars, now THAT is what I
consider alot worse. Students, taking care of your hearing is a serious and
important matter. I do have an occasional beer, and drink coffee, but I do
try to take care of my health overall. I agree, seriously, all of the
younger crowd, take as much care of yourself as possible, physically,
mentally, and spiritually!!
