Hello,
I've been fitted with those earplugs, and they say the sound is the same once
you get used to them. I, however, can't stand wearing them, and most
military musicians will say the same so we never got that far. Why do can I
say this?? Because I've been in 5 if those military bands. By the way, to
some of us the customizing part...having wax go in your ear ......is a very
uncomfortable process. And furthermore wearing them is also uncomfortable
(Fred, I suppose cotton is a little uncomfortable too!) Well the
Presidents' Own wears them....and now it's like the THING to do. I would
strongly recommend to wear them when you're around those obnoxious drummers
and brass players (especially trumpet players). This way they can waste
their energy and blow their guts and not bother you!! But, I agree with Fred
and I don't wear them (as most musicians in the military will tell you the
same) for the serious concert band or dance band performances. I presently
audition all the instruments for the Marine Corps bands (except the Pres.
Own) and I can sometimes cry when I audition drummers and don't have those
earplugs. I will defend the military bands and say that when we do concert
band we take it as seriously (as possible) and yes, we also use intonation
and balance!! Don't worry Fred I still miss playing with an orchestra.
Also, thos earplugs work great when using firearms!!!!
