I certainly think Stoltzman sounds good in the altissimo (when he is using
tone and vibrato I can tolerate!), but I think Eddie Daniels is even better,
and I mean in his classical recordings, such as the Brahms Quintet.

I've heard Daniels, in a masterclass, play what sounded like one of those
two-page exercises involving arpeggios in all keys over the full range of the
instrument - certainly including notes above high G. He did the entire
thing at a pp dynamic with fine, uniform tone and no hint of harshness.
