I am a 16 year old clarinet player.. I was interested in the conversation
on school lessons. My band director's "specialty" is not the clarinet, but
trumpet.. Myself, being interested in improving and furthering my skills,
opted to start taking private lessons from a university professor.. I can
honestly say I have improved tremendously in the short while that I have
taken private lessons...

Refering to the cost and time of lessons at school.. Our lessons are free,
and we get pulled out of class on a rotating schedule each week. For the
past 2 or 3 years I have been staying after school a a time or two each
week to get in more practice and one-on-one attention with my director. He
does not charge me anything for this... Maybe it's just the satisfaction he
feels when a student is eager to learn. :o)
