Since I posted that, I'll clarify myself. I was only speaking of a Major
Clarinetist in a Major Orchestra not giving 1/2 hr. lessons- period. I was
not referring to District Teachers at all - Those teachers have the hardest
job of all. :)

When lessons are given in the school day many parents do not like there
children to be out of class for that amount of time (45.) This si a business
with regualtions set up by the state. We have no choice on how long we teach
here or really on how much we get paid. That is set up by the school
district that you are contracted to teach for. If people want more than a
half hour they must come to you because we cannot recruit the extra time. I
have had a few people do that and they take the full hour lesson. Don't get
me wrong I would like to teach many of my students a full hour because I have
so much that I would like to do with them. However the system just doesn't
allow for such things coming from the private teacher. So please don't be so
rash to condem either the teacher or the system. The system has been proven
time and time again to produce some of the finest young musicians that I have
heard anywhere.
