Subj: Whining???...must be a misunderstanding...
Date: Sat, 9 Aug 1997 16:04:46 -0400

Mr. Jacobowitz... There must be a misunderstanding here... My teacher
was the one that suggested that I post this message. She wanted more
information about the Messiaen and she wanted me to ask about the
Hindemith Sonata... She, too, wanted suggestions on 20th century,
American composer pieces... Why must you be so crass? You said,
"...C'mon now, time to stop whining..." Where does that come from? Who
was whining? I was simply asking a couple questions and asking for
suggestions...

Does everyone else get attacked as much as I do when I post? It's not
going to stop me this time. At times, I think that many people here on
this list send me these responses just to "test" my reaction....jeez...

Sorry to waste time on this...

Ken,
What does your teacher recommend that youplay for an American
piece??????????? That's what teachers are FOR. There are so many good
American composers that here is no excuse for anyone not to be able to
find good works at any level. You don't say what level you are at but
I'll
assume that if you mention the Osborne, you can deal with these
suggestions. To name a few: Persichetti "Parable", Rozsa "Sonatine",
Bernstein "Sonata", Katherine Hoover "Set for Clarinet" and "Ritual",
Elaine Erickson (a personal friend and favorite) "Two Prortraits", Robert
Muczynski "Time Pieces", and the list goes on... C'mon now, time to stop
whining and get out there finding these and other pieces!
