Hear ye, hear ye!

There have been a few postings about Dorn (formerly Woodwind Service),
who publish a huge sheet music, CD and discount reed catalogue each year,
for both clarinet and saxophone. They also publish some music. The most
recent posts have been that people have had a hard time getting through
to anyone "live" there via the phone, and that there were problems with
orders. After leaving 2 messages on their machine, I finally got through
to someone (you have to press "2" for "Lauren", don't try to get anyone
at the "service" stop (number 1) because they just record all incoming
calls now) and found out some interesting things.

1) they will no longer sell any music they don't publish themselves. She
said they still have some other stuff but they're not restocking anything.

2) their web site, www.dornpub.com doesn't work

3) their 8OO number, advertised as working for the US and Canada, does
not work from Canada--a lot of US 8OO numbers don't anymore, anyone know why?

4) their listed local number has changed from what's in the 1997 catalogue:
(5O8) 473-2228.

Considering the immense amount of music they list, and the fact that the
97 catalogue was only published in May, either Ken Dorn's gone mad, or
something major went down there. Seems a shame to lose a major outlet
like that.
